Description

You have been pricing MERV 13 and putting it off, because the last quote you pulled made it a hard sell. Here it is $8.33 a filter in a 12 case.

What you get for that is a self supported synthetic pleat with no metal grid, so there is nothing to rust into the frame and nothing to catch when a tech pulls one out at an angle. The frame is moisture resistant beverage board, which matters on any rack sitting above a coil that sweats.

At 1 inch there is less media than a thicker filter carries, so watch your static. The work a pleated filter does is upstream of air quality: it keeps fine dust off the coil, and a loaded coil narrows your split and keeps the compressor running longer than it needs to.

Every case ships the same part number, so what goes in the building in March matches what goes in it in September. We stock this line as a Parker dealer and order against their distribution network.

When this is the wrong call

MERV 13 moves less air than MERV 8 through the same opening. In a 1 inch slot there is not much media to work with, so the resistance shows up fast.

If the unit is older, the return is undersized, or you are already fighting long duct runs, a 1 inch MERV 13 can pull airflow down far enough to freeze the coil or trip a limit. Take a static pressure reading before you switch, not after.

If your rack accepts 2 inch, use it. More media, lower resistance, longer between changes. The 20x20x2 runs $14.07 a filter.
