DustHog VB Downdraft Bench
The dust never reaches your operator’s face, because it never travels up. The VB puts the work surface and the collector in one cabinet and pulls everything straight down through the table, which is why it works for grinding and sanding where an overhead arm always ends up in the way.

What it is
One cabinet, two jobs
Your bench is the capture point. Air is drawn down through the work surface and into the cartridges below, so the contaminant leaves the operator’s breathing zone in the direction it was already falling. There is no arm to reposition, no hood to aim, and nothing overhead to work around.
The VB is one of three builds on the same V-Series platform. Same cartridge, same pulse hardware, same controls. The other two are the VF fixed ducted unit and the VP portable with a swing arm. If your work stays at one station, the bench is usually the right one.
Cleaning runs on compressed air at 90 to 100 PSI. Parker’s auto-cleaning function pulses the cartridge after the unit is shut off, so the filter starts each shift clean rather than loaded from the day before.

The two builds

The 750 is single phase, the 1,500 is three phase. That is the practical difference most shops feel first. The 1 HP bench runs on standard single phase power and needs no starter. The 3 HP bench needs three phase and ships with the starter included. If you only have single phase at that wall, the VB-0750 is your unit, and the carbon and HEPA after-filters are not available on it.

VB-1500C34UNH reads as a benchtop, 1,500 CFM, automatic pulse cleaning, 3 HP, 460/3/60, starter included, ProTura Nanofiber cartridge, HEPA after-filter. Sixteen VB configurations exist in total, four on the 750 and twelve on the 1,500.

Two cartridges, and when the fire retardant one earns its cost
Parker certifies the Advanced Nanofiber cartridge at MERV 15 and states it lasts 50% longer than an 80/20 filter, with effective sub-micron particle removal.
You order it as ProTura Nanofiber or ProTura FR Nanofiber. FR is the fire retardant media, and it is the one to specify if you are catching grinding sparks at the table. The price difference between the two is small enough that it is rarely the deciding factor.
On the 1,500 you can add a carbon after-filter for odor or a HEPA after-filter where the discharge returns to an occupied room.

When the VB is not right for you
Your emissions are explosive
Parker’s V-Series manual instructs plainly that these units are not to collect emissions which are explosive. If your material is or might be combustible, this is not the machine, and it is not a decision to make from a product page. Start on the combustible dust side instead.
You need HEPA but only have single phase power
The after-filters are offered on the 3 HP bench, which is three phase. If HEPA matters and three phase is not available at that wall, the VF is worth a look, since it is offered at 750 CFM with a 3 HP motor.
The work does not fit on a bench
Weldments, long stock, and anything you need a hoist for are the wrong shape for a downdraft table. Look at the VP portable with a swing arm or source capture arms.
Your contaminant is oil mist or coolant
A dry cartridge loads up fast on liquid aerosol. That is mist collector work. See SmogHog mist collectors.
VB questions
VB-0750 or VB-1500?
Power is usually the deciding factor before airflow is. The 750 is 1 HP on single phase and needs no starter. The 1,500 is 3 HP on three phase with the starter included, moves twice the air, carries twice the filter area, and is the only one that takes a carbon or HEPA after-filter.
What motor sizes does the V-Series come in?
One and three horsepower, across the whole series. There is nothing in between.
Does it need compressed air?
Yes. The automatic pulse cleaning system needs 90 to 100 PSI. If your compressor is already at its limit, say so before you order, because that changes what we would recommend.
How loud is it?
Parker publishes 74 to 79 dBA on the 750 CFM units and 81 dBA on the 1,500. In a school shop or a quiet tool room that difference is noticeable, and it is worth weighing against the extra airflow.
Can I run it on combustible dust?
No. Parker’s manual states these units are not to collect explosive emissions. If there is any chance your material is combustible, the right first step is testing your dust, not buying a bench.
What filters does it take, and can I get them from you?
