Media that drains instead of clogging
PEACH media is a coalescing filter with an open three dimensional depth matrix. Mist saturates through the depth of the media, droplets grow until they are heavy enough, then gravity drains them out, all while the differential pressure stays low. That is a different behavior from a filter that simply loads up and blinds.
Parker builds the media as a synthetic blend engineered for oil mist and coolant, in a multi layer thermally bonded gradient density fiber structure. The point of that construction is that the media stays open under load rather than compressing, which is what buys the service life.
The whole unit direct mounts to the machine, or goes on a wall or ceiling. What you are buying is a maintenance model your crew can actually keep: change media on a schedule, no wash tank, no dry time.

Two sizes, then Basic or Advanced, then what is at the wall
Parker publishes six orderable builds. Two airflow sizes, two control packages, two voltage groups. Every one of them is a real part number rather than a configuration you have to describe in a sentence.

Basic and Advanced is a monitoring decision, not a performance one. Basic gives you analog pressure gauges on the unit to watch filter loading, and manual adjustment of the airflow. Advanced adds a remote digital module, so the monitoring and control move to somewhere a person actually walks past. On a machine tucked in a corner, or in a shop where the unit sits above head height, Advanced is usually what stops a loaded filter going unnoticed for a month.
Footprint and current. Parker publishes the family at 35.44 in. high and 23.59 in. deep, with the width at 30.125 in. or 37 in. depending on the build. Full load current runs about 1.6 to 2.1 amps on 460 volt units and about 2.7 to 3.9 amps on 208 to 230 volt units. Both numbers matter when the unit is going on top of an enclosure that already has a chip conveyor and a coolant tank around it.

The unit is one line on the quote. These are the others.
Parker orders the main media, the afterfilter and the connection hardware as their own line items. That is not a catch; it is how a machine mount gets matched to a specific enclosure. What it does mean is that a quote listing only the collector is an incomplete quote.

The inlet connection is the part people forget. A machine mount only works if it actually seals to the enclosure. Parker offers inlet flanges and flex hose for attachment to a CNC machining center, and the right one depends on your machine, not on the collector. We ask for the make and model of the machine before we quote the connection, because a mismatch there undoes everything the media does well.
Media and filtration
Coalesce, drain, and keep the pressure drop low
The reason PEACH media lasts is that it is designed to release what it catches. The depth matrix lets liquid saturate through the media rather than sitting on the face, droplets coalesce until they are heavy enough to fall, and gravity drains them out. A media that only captures eventually blinds. A media that captures and drains keeps running.
Behind the main media, Parker offers a 95% DOP afterfilter or HEPA. The choice comes down to where the air goes. Discharging into a room where operators stand all shift is the case for HEPA. Discharging into a bay with good general ventilation usually is not.
The blower is an energy efficient three phase unit, and airflow is adjustable, so the same collector can be tuned down on a light process rather than run at full speed against a machine that does not need it. That adjustment lives at the gauge panel on a Basic unit and at the remote module on an Advanced one.

What maintenance looks like
You watch differential pressure and you change media when it rises. There is no soak tank, no wash water temperature to get right, no dry time before the unit can be energized again, and no risk of a wet cell shorting the power pack.
In exchange, the media is a recurring purchase. That is the honest trade, and it is the entire reason both families exist in the SmogHog line.
Which side you should be on
If your maintenance team is stretched, if the unit sits somewhere awkward, or if the shop has a history of PM tasks slipping, media wins. A filter change is a task anybody can do in twenty minutes.
If you have a real PM program and somebody who owns the schedule, the MSH machine mount on the electrostatic side has almost no consumable spend and will cost less to own over years.
We ask about your PM program before we ask about your airflow, because that answer decides the family long before it decides the model.
Watch the gauge, not the calendar. Media life depends on your coolant, your spindle hours and how enclosed the machine is. A number of months quoted up front is a guess. Differential pressure is a measurement. On a Basic unit that means somebody looking at the gauge on a walk-through; on an Advanced unit it means the module telling you.
A hard boundary
A mist collector is not a combustible dust answer
Media or electrostatic, the boundary is the same. If any part of your process makes combustible dust, that process needs a dust collector engineered for it rather than a mist collector doing double duty. Parker’s manuals carry a combustible dust notice requiring the owner or user to test their dust mixtures to evaluate and understand potential combustion or deflagration hazards that may exist.
NFPA 660 took effect January 1, 2026 and consolidated NFPA 61, 484, 652, 654, 655, and 664. NFPA 68 for venting and NFPA 69 for explosion prevention remain separate referenced standards. Your dust hazard analysis has to be reviewed at least every five years and whenever the process changes.
Metal grinding sits in this category more often than shops expect, and aluminum, magnesium, titanium and zirconium go to wet collection under NFPA 660’s stated preference. A machining center that runs wet today and dry next month is a real change of process, not a small one.

What it is built for
Mist, smoke and wet particulate at the machine
Parker files the SHM machine mount against mist, smoke and wet particulate, and names the CNC machining center as the attachment point. That is exactly where it belongs: on the enclosure, pulling at the source, with a short connection rather than a duct run.
On our floors it lands most often in machining, tooling and CNC on machining centers and screw machines running a steady mist load with a short maintenance window, and in aerospace manufacturing, where mist carryover shows up as a surface finish problem before anybody calls it an air quality problem.
It is also the answer in shops that already tried electrostatic somewhere else in the building and found the wash schedule did not survive contact with a busy month.

When the SHM machine mount is not right for you
You want the lowest possible operating cost
Media is a recurring purchase. If you have a maintenance program that will genuinely keep a wash schedule, the electrostatic MSH has almost no consumable spend and will cost less over the life of the machine.
You need more than 800 CFM
This unit tops out there. A bigger machine, or several machines ducted together, moves you to the floor mounted SHM modular on the media side, or the SHN on the electrostatic side.
You only have single phase power
Every SHM machine mount build is three phase, at 208 to 230 or 460 volts. If the machine sits on a single phase drop, the MSH has single phase builds and is the simpler install.
Your contaminant is dry dust
Coalescing media is designed to catch a liquid and drain it. Dry grinding or sanding dust will load it without draining, which is the fastest way to spend money on media. See the Parker DustHog line.
The machine cannot carry it
An SHM-08C is 300 lbs sitting on top of an enclosure. Some machines take that without a thought and some do not. Wall and ceiling mounting are both supported, and that is often the right answer rather than a reason to walk away.

They are separate line items by design, which is how the collector gets matched to your specific machine. Main media, afterfilter and inlet connections all get named on our quote alongside the unit, so what arrives is a complete installation rather than a collector and a shopping list.
What power does it need?
